Minutes of the Meeting of January 11, 2023

The meeting was called to order at 12:36 p.m. by State’s Attorney Anne F. Mahoney (Windham).

Also present were Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin, Deputy Chief State’s Attorneys John J. Russotto, Kevin D. Lawlor and Inspector General Robert J. MINUTES

A motion to accept the minutes from the December 7, 2022 meeting was made by Deputy Chief State's Attorney Lawlor. I was seconded by State's Attorney Corradino. It passed unanimously.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

State's Attorney Corradino reported that the State’s Attorneys’ retreat has been scheduled for March 20-21, 2023 at the Water’s Edge in Westbrook, CT. There will be two main components: the Moving Justice Forward blueprint and presentations addressing both management training and wellness.

OPERATIONS COMMITTEE

State's Attorney Platt reported for the Operations Committee and indicated that the committee had met virtually and approved the DCJ Use of Force Policy, #501, on December 22, 2022.

The committee is also reviewing the various waivers used by the police departments. The committee plans to work toward uniformity and consistency with these waivers.

PEER REVIEW UPDATE

Deputy Chief State's Attorney Russotto reported that the remaining interviews have been completed for the second group of reviews for the State’s Attorneys. He is currently working on the drafts of each review. A new round of peer reviews will be scheduled in the spring.                            

POTENTIAL CONFLICTS

Potential conflicts have been identified in the New Britain, Danbury and Waterbury Judicial Districts.  

OTHER BUSINESS

There are currently openings for data processor positions. They will be offered at 24 hours per week at a rate of $16.50 per hour. Labor Relations Administrator AnneMarie Paone-Mullin has been reaching out to the various colleges and laws schools for recruitment. State's Attorney Corradino suggested that confidentiality agreements be signed by those hired.

ADJOURNMENT

State's Attorney Corradino made a motion to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by State's Attorney Ferencek and passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 12:48 p.m.
