1/20/2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Danbury, CT) – David R. Applegate, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Danbury, announced today that on January 19, 2023, a Danbury Superior Court jury found Nathan Shupp, age 46, of Bethel, guilty of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-73a(1)(a) and two counts of Risk of Injury to Minor in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53-21(a)(1) on one count, and § 53-21(a)(2) on the other.

According to evidence presented at trial, between August of 2018 and February of 2019, the defendant inappropriately touched an 11-year-old female and permitted that child to be placed in a situation in which her morals and health were likely to be impaired.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 30, 2023 in Danbury Superior Court.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State's Attorney Mary-Caitlin Harding, along with Special Assistant State’s Attorney, and former State's Attorney, Steven J. Sedensky III.
