Boating Grants and Financial Assistance
Boating Infrastructure Grants (BIG) Program
To provide funding for dockage, moorings and shoreside amenities (restrooms, dockside utilities, recycling and trash receptacles, electric service, water supplies, pay telephones) for recreational boats 26 feet or more in length for safe harbors and recreational opportunities; to enhance access to recreational, historic, cultural, natural and scenic resources, including navigational aids, dinghy docks); to strengthen community ties to the water's edge and economic benefits; to promote public/private partnerships and entrepreneurial opportunities; to provide continuity of public access to the shore; and, to promote awareness of transient boating opportunities. | Eligible Parties: | Marinas, municipalities, boating clubs that will provide public boating access. |
| Availability: | Annually; applications must be in by the date specified in the Request for Application (RFA). Applicants will be informed in January of the subsequent year. Approved projects can be expected to begin in Spring. Work must be completed within 3 years of project approval. |

The Connecticut DEEP is able to grant two levels of funding. Tier I is a minimum of $30,000 up to a total of $190,000 and Tier II is for projects over $200,000 annually. Tier II projects are scored nationally. |

Clean Vessel Act Grants Program
Installation of marine sanitation device (MSD) holding tank pumpouts, marine portable toilet holding tank dump stations and pumpout boats; and operation and maintenance (O&M) of existing Marine Sewage Disposal Facilities (MSDFs). Additional Information
| Eligible Parties: | Marinas, municipalities, marine organizations with operational responsibilities involving the boating public. |
| Availability: | RFP is distributed annually in late spring, or as soon as federal grant funds are awarded to DEEP for new project grants and continuing operation and maintenance grants. Proposals for operation and maintenance are due in the summer for the next boating season. Proposals also accepted on a continual basis and grants awarded if funds are available. |
