Women's Behavioral Health Services Program
-
Improved access of recovery-based services for women;
-
Maximized use of existing resources through care management of residential treatment services;
-
Improved ability to measure and monitor treatment outcomes;
-
Identification of gaps in services for women.
In order to accomplish these goals, the Women's Behavioral Health Services Program has two primary components: recovery support services and utilization management.
Women's Recovery Support Services
Women’s Recovery Specialists provide holistic services to maximize the likelihood of client success. Their primary role is to assist women in reintegrating into the community after discharge from Women’s Specialized Residential Programs. The ability to transfer the recovery capital built during residential treatment - including sober living skills, a sense of community and parenting skills - to a non-structured environment is imperative. Recovery Specialists facilitate successful client treatment outcomes by participating in discharge planning, improving linkages among treatment providers, identifying community based supports, and working collaboratively with DCF workers.
Utilization Management
Utilization management provides DMHAS with information regarding the level of use of Women’s Specialty Residential Programs.
Utilization management is a review of every admission to Women’s Specialty Residential Programs every thirty (30) days the woman remains in treatment and upon discharge. In an effort to support the goals of the program, admission and continued stays are authorized on the basis of the woman’s clinical and psychosocial presentation. Authorizations or denials are categorized as either clinical or administrative to differentiate women continuing in treatment for clinical reasons versus the unavailability of services. Authorization or denial of services is not based upon reimbursement.
