as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Banking
January 30, 2007
Governor M. Jodi Rell announced today that she is formally nominating Alan J. Cicchetti of West Hartford as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Banking.
Cicchetti was appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Banking in 1999.
“As Deputy Commissioner, Alan’s primary responsibility is the management of the Consumer Credit Division which includes licensing, examination and enforcement activities relating to non-depository institutions under the jurisdiction of the Department,” Governor Rell said. “He has done an excellent job for us, and I am glad he will continue to serve state taxpayers.”
Prior to his position with the State of Connecticut, Cicchetti held senior management positions in the areas of mortgage production and regional bank branch management, with Centerbank Mortgage Company and the Shawmut National Corporation and its precursors.
Cicchetti earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Bryant University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut. He also served as a member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business.
The Department of Banking helps to protect users of financial services from unlawful or improper practices by requiring that regulated entities and individuals adhere to the law. It assures the safety and soundness of state chartered banks and credit unions, as well as educating and communicating with the public and other stakeholders about the banking community in Connecticut.
