Board of State Credit Union Supervisors
February 3, 2011
State of Connecticut Banking Commissioner Howard F. Pitkin was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS). NASCUS is the national association of state officials responsible for chartering, supervising and regulating the nation's state-chartered credit unions.
Commissioner Pitkin was appointed by NASCUS Chairman Tom Candon to fill an unexpired one-year term, ending in September 2011. He has more than 30 years of experience as a state regulator, and previously served on the NASCUS Board of Directors from 2003-2005 when he was the agency’s Administrator of Depository Institutions.
“I am very pleased to be appointed to the NASCUS Board of Directors,” stated Commissioner Pitkin. “I wholeheartedly support its mission to enhance state credit union supervision and to promote a safe and sound state credit union system.”
“NASCUS welcomes Howard back to our NASCUS Board of Directors,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “We are confident he will provide invaluable contributions to our leadership group. We look forward to another strong and productive year for our NASCUS Board of Directors.”
