Before applying for licensure, please familiarize yourself with the general licensing policies.

 

The Department may issue a 120 day non-renewable temporary permit to an applicant for licensure as an athletic trainer who has not yet sat for or received the results of the examination administered by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer when the following documents have been received by the Department:

A completed temporary permit application form; and

 

A transcript verifying the award of a baccalaureate degree in any area.

 

Please note:

 

Filling out the application form for a temporary permit does not authorize an applicant to begin work as an athletic trainer.  Applicants may not work within the scope of practice of athletic training until a permit is issued by this office.  A valid temporary permit will be printed on olive colored paper with a basket weave pattern and will also be verifiable on the Department's website.

 

Please note that a permit will not be issued to any person who has previously failed to pass the examination.
