THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS NEWS CONFERENCE TO ROLL OUT HARTFORD HOMEOWNERSHIP INCENTIVE PROGRAM; PARTICIPATES IN EMPLOYMENT ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will speak at a news conference sponsored by the MetroHartford Alliance to roll out the Hartford Homeownership Incentive Program, which aims to revitalize the state's capital city by working with employers and financial institutions to offer forgivable grants to potential homeowners.

Later, Governor Malloy will tour the Hartford CTWorks Career Center, which will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the various employment and social services available in the state with a group of local jobseekers, Department of Labor Commissioner Glenn Marshall, Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick Bremby, CTWorks Director Ram Aberasturia, and Capital Workforce Partners CEO Tom Phillips. The CTWorks system is a partnership of organizations working as a team to provide effective workforce assistance to jobseekers and businesses. Earlier this month, Governor Malloy and the commissioners announced the implementation of new state efforts to assist residents facing loss of unemployment benefits as a result of the state's declining unemployment rate.
