GOV. MALLOY: SPECIAL ELECTION FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN HAMDEN AND NEW HAVEN TO BE HELD APRIL 24
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a special election to fill a vacancy in the State House of Representatives serving the 94th Assembly District, which covers portions of Hamden and New Haven, will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
The seat became vacant on February 28 following the resignation of Gary Holder-Winfield, who several days prior was elected to serve in the 10th Senatorial District of the State Senate and then was subsequently sworn into his new position.
Under state law, the Governor is required to issue a Writ of Special Election within ten days of a vacancy in the General Assembly, and a special election must be held 46 days after its issuance. Governor Malloy is
filing the writs
