TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY HOLDS NEWS CONFERENCE IN NEW HAVEN ON THE FUTURE OF THE Q HOUSE; WELCOMES HOME CONN. NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIERS
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a news conference in New Haven to discuss the future of the Q House - a community center located on Dixwell Avenue that closed in 2003. He will be joined by Mayor Toni Harp and other state and local leaders.
In the evening, Governor Malloy will participate in a formal welcome home ceremony honoring approximately 250 soldiers from three Connecticut National Guard units that recently completed overseas deployments to Southwest Asia. Special military awards that will be presented include two Purple Hearts and 20 Bronze Star Medals. The units include the 143rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of Waterbury; B Company, 2-104th Aviation Regiment of Windsor Locks; and the 1048th Truck Company of Enfield.
