GOV. MALLOY STATEMENT ON VOTE IN THE US SENATE BLOCKING FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE BILL
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding defeat of a motion in the U.S. Senate today that would have allowed a vote on legislation raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10.
"Today, Republican members of the US Senate prevented an up or down vote on legislation to increase the federal minimum wage to $10.10 and give 28 million Americans a raise. I commend Senators Blumenthal and Murphy and Democratic leaders of the Senate for their ongoing effort to increase the minimum wage and regret that, for now, our nation has missed an opportunity to help millions of citizens lift themselves out of poverty."
