GOV. MALLOY STATEMENT ON THE AMISTAD'S PARTICIPATION IN SAILFEST

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today issued the following statement regarding the Amistad's participation in Sailfest in New London:

"I'm very pleased that the Amistad is making the trip to New London to take part in Sailfest. This event draws a hundred thousand residents to the city, and by being there, the Amistad reminds everyone of an important chapter of our state's history."

Earlier this week, the Governor wrote to the leadership of the Amistad organization and expressed his profound disappointment with their decision to not attend the event.
