THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY KICKS OFF 2014 SCHOOL YEAR WITH FIRST STOP TO EXPANDED PRE-K PROGRAM; SPEAKS AT HOUSE OF BREAD ANNIVERSARY RECEPTION

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Dr. Myra Jones-Taylor, Commissioner of the state Office of Early Childhood, will visit Dr. Michael D. Fox School in Hartford for an opportunity to tour the school's pre-kindergarten program and meet with its teachers and staff. M.D. Fox School recently expanded its capacity by adding additional pre-K slots for new students as the result of an initiative Governor Malloy championed that created 1,020 additional school readiness opportunities throughout the state this year. Following their tour, the Governor will hold a media availability.

In the evening, Governor Malloy will make remarks at the House of Bread's 35th anniversary reception in Hartford. Founded by Sister Maureen Faenza and Sister Theresa Fonti, the organization provides food, housing, and a variety of other services for the most needy in the Hartford community.
