Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Highlights "Second Chance Society" Initiative in Willimantic
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit the Windham Recovery Community Center in Willimantic to tour the facility, speak with staff and individuals coping with addiction, and discuss the impact that his "Second Chance Society" initiatives will have on residents' lives. His proposals and criminal justice reforms - supported by Democrats and Republicans in red and blue states nationwide - are designed to drive down the state's historically low crime rates even further.
The center is one of Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery's three locations in Connecticut and serves as a sanctuary for individuals with a history of substance use. The Governor will be joined by Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Commissioner Dr. Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, Department of Correction Commissioner Scott Semple, and American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut Executive Director Stephen Glassman.
