Gov. Malloy Statement on Address Delivered by Vice President Pence at National Governors Association Meeting
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding the speech that Vice President Mike Pence gave today at the National Governors Association 2017 Summer Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island:
“A collaborative relationship between the federal government and states is vital to the health, safety, and well-being of the citizens we serve. While the nation’s governors were honored to welcome the Vice President to our annual meeting, nothing about the Trump-Pence administration’s effort to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and replace it has been collaborative with the states. The fact is, the Senate Republican health care bill will leave 22 million Americans without coverage by 2026, gut the Medicaid program, and shift massive costs to states. The President and Congress should scrap this plan, end their attack on our most vulnerable populations, and finally engage with governors to stabilize the health insurance marketplace and lower health care costs for Americans.”
