Gov. Malloy: KPMG to Add 110 New Jobs in Stamford

Firm Signs Long-Term Lease for Downtown Office Space on Former UBS Building

(STAMFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, plans to add 110 jobs over the next five years in a new Stamford office. The company recently signed a long-term lease and plans to renovate space in the former UBS building at 677 Washington Boulevard, which it expects to occupy next spring.

“KPMG’s commitment to growing its operations and creating jobs in Connecticut is a testament to our top-notch workforce and unbeatable quality of life,” Governor Malloy said. “It is an encouraging sign that world-class companies are continually choosing to set up or expand operations in our state.”

KPMG has had a presence in Stamford for nearly 40 years and the firm currently employs 315 professionals at its location at 3001 Summer Street. The firm’s Hartford office has 231 employees.

“We look forward next year to moving into newly-renovated space that will have state-of-the-art technology and work space to allow our highly-skilled professionals to deliver a best-in-class experience for our Stamford-area clients,” Bob Garrett, KPMG managing partner for a region that includes New York City, Stamford, Long Island and northern New Jersey, said.

“We’re committed to the city and excited about the growth we’re seeing, especially in financial services such as asset management and insurance,” Manish Madhavani, KPMG Stamford office managing partner, said.

The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is supporting the business expansion in Stamford with a $3 million grant in arrears for leasehold improvements, equipment, and other project-related costs. Portions of the grant will be released when certain job creation milestones are met.

“We know that professional services firms of KPMG’s stature have lots of options as to where to grow, so we are thrilled they made the strategic business decision to invest and expand in our state,” DECD Commissioner Catherine Smith said.

KPMG is one of the world’s leading professional services firms, providing innovative business solutions and audit, tax, and advisory services to many of the world’s largest and most prestigious organizations. It is the independent U.S. member firm of KPMG International Cooperative (“KPMG International”). KPMG International’s independent member firms have 197,000 professionals working in 154 countries.
