River Camping
Four public camps along the Connecticut River offer primitive, riverside sites with fireplaces and pit toilets for individuals traveling on the river. These river campsites are available from May 1 through September 30. The length of stay is limited to one night. Use of river campsites at River Highlands, Hurd and Gillette Castle State Parks are restricted to canoers and kayakers.

Horse Camping
The following campgrounds have been designed exclusively for equestrian use. It is anticipated that they will be open for the 2019 season from May 24th through September 1st (daily). All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping is offered for riders who can provide their own mounts.

Youth Group Camping
Youth Group Camping areas are available to qualifying youth organizations. The group camp areas are generally away from main public use areas, giving group leaders maximum control over their group's camping experience. This program is designed to encourage youths to learn about nature and the camping experience.
