Central Connecticut State University

Central Connecticut State University

Overview

Students can register in any CCSU course for which they meet the prerequisites on a space-available basis. Most courses are currently offered on the CCSU campus, but there are efforts underway to expand concurrent enrollment partnerships.

Programming and Partnerships

CCSU offers opportunities in almost all of our undergraduate majors for high school students to experience college-level courses. Popular course areas include Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Construction Management, Sociology, Education, Criminology, Psychology, Business, Communications, African American, Latin American, and Latino and Puerto Rican Studies, Dance, Music, Art, Math, Economics, World Languages, and many more.

We have several STEM, Education, and other college-to-career pipeline partnerships with districts, including Meriden, Middletown, Hartford, New Britain, and CREC, among others. Partnerships are also connected through out TRiO Educational Talent Search Program.

Student Eligibility

Eligibility varies by course and school, but generally, students may register with approval from the contact at their particular school in any courses for which they meet the prerequisites.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

CCSU is developing processes to confirm eligibility for high school instructors to teach CCSU courses. Our processes will follow NEASC and NECHE accreditation standards and requirements. Individual departments will also weigh in on the "approval" based on high school teacher credentials and the courses that will be taught and will collaborate with the high school teachers to ensure there is curriculum alignment. Currently, partnerships are in place with the School of Education that, in some cases, will have high school teachers involved in Education pipeline partnerships teaching Education Introductory courses for CCSU credit.

Registration and Fees

Once a partnership agreement is in place, students may register using the CCSU Registration Form assigned to their particular school. Each school has a designated point of contact (typically in Guidance) that assists the student in filling out the form and submits the forms directly to the designee in our Registrar's Office. Registration confirmation and course information is sent directly to the student and high school designee.

Registration for Fall begins at the end of June and closes July 30th; Spring registration begins December 1st and ends December 18th; Summer registration begins Mid-April and ends May 5th.

To request a transcript, students must contact the CCSU Registrar's Office designee Barbara Zalot - zalot@ccsu.edu. Generally, CCSU courses are transferable to other institutions, particularly for liberal arts and introductory courses.

There is no cost other than those associated with the cost of books and/or supplies. However, partnership agreements must be in place.

Students can get all fees associated with enrollment waived so long as partnership agreements are in place for us to process waivers.

Supports for Multilingual Families

The individual coordinating Dual Enrollment at CCSU is bilingual (Spanish). Otherwise, course registration occurs through the high school. Once a website is in place, efforts will be made to provide some information in Spanish.

Eastern Connecticut State University

Eastern Connecticut State Universitysd

Overview

After an agreement is in place between Eastern and a partnering school or school district, approved high school teachers, under the supervision of an Eastern academic department faculty liaison, deliver Eastern courses at their high school. High school teachers delivering these courses must meet the qualifications and requirements set for Eastern Connecticut State University adjunct faculty members. Eastern’s Dual Enrollment program provides high school students the opportunity to enroll in exciting and rigorous college courses to earn college credit as well as expand their academic prowess.

Programming and Partnerships

Eastern’s dual credit partnerships offer subjects that vary between Communication, English, Mathematics, Arts, Language, and various science course opportunities. The courses offered provide a collegiate course level between 100 and 200, typical course levels for incoming freshman and sophomore students. Specific courses being offered for Fall and Spring 2023 for communication are: Interpersonal Communication and Public Speaking. English courses offered are: Creative Writing and Intro to Literature. Math course options are Calculus I, Calculus II, and Math for Liberal Arts Plus. Arts courses are Studio Art Introduction, Drawing I, and Painting I. Language courses are Intermediate Spanish I and Intermediate Spanish II. Science courses are: General Physics I and II, Ecology and the Environment, Human Biology and Lab, Intro to Astronomy and Lab, and Healthcare Terminology. These are all courses typically taken by students in their first or second year at Eastern.

This provides students insight into majors they are interested in and the ability to earn credits that can be counted toward the required Liberal Arts Core Curriculum before enrolling at Eastern as a full-time undergraduate student.

Eastern has been affiliated with Bacon Academy, Coventry High School, E.O. Smith, Killingly High School, New London High School, Norwich Free Academy, RHAM, Rockville High School, Woodstock Academy, and Montville High School. Our current partnerships are all east of the Connecticut River, although Eastern does not have a specification to limit the geographic outreach for dual credit.

We are currently exploring an early science research program partnership with multiple Connecticut districts.

Student Eligibility

Juniors and Seniors are eligible to take courses through Eastern’s dual credit partnerships.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Certified high school teachers must have a Master’s degree in a related content area. They are required to submit an application that includes a cover letter, resume, two letters of recommendation, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and a proposed syllabus for each dual credit class they hope to conduct.

The appropriate academic department will vote to determine if applicants meet qualifications to teach Eastern course(s) as concurrent enrollment instructors.

Registration and Fees

To register for a dual credit course, the high school student and their parents, or their Guidance Counselor, must complete a Microsoft Form. Once the form is received, Eastern’s Registrar’s Office creates a university account and enrolls them in a designated dual credit course.

A “C” or higher is required to earn the dual credit course credits. Once credits are earned, this will be reflected on their Eastern transcript. Electronic transcripts are available to students at no charge.

The Spring 2023 deadlines were as follows:

  • January 27 – Deadline for spring-only students to be entered in Registration form.
  • January 31 – Roster verification
  • February 8 – Last day to drop courses with refund

Dual credit courses will be recorded on an official Eastern transcript. These credit(s) may be used to satisfy requirements at Eastern. If the student plans to attend another institution, the student should check with that school’s Admissions Office for transfer credit policies to determine the transferability of Eastern credits towards their degree requirements.

Generally speaking, all courses are at the 100-level or higher and should be transferable to any accredited university.

Dual credit courses cost $25 per credit. Most courses are 3 credits ($75).

In 2022-23, each partner high school was eligible for up to two scholarships of $100 each. Guidance counselors were responsible for nominating up to two students.

Last year, we awarded a total of $775 in scholarships which covered classes for 8 separate students.

Supports for Multilingual Families

We rely on resources in place at the high schools for supporting multilingual learners and families whose primary language is not English.

Goodwin University

Goodwin University

Overview

Goodwin University Magnet School scholars at the Connecticut River Academy (CTRA) may participate in the Goodwin University program beginning their junior year. During the first year of the program, students take up to four dually enrolled courses, cohorted with other CTRA scholars and taught by a CTRA educator. The scholars are also required to participate in a college study block. If the scholars earn a B or better in the first year of the program, they move onto the second year. The scholars in year 2 of the program, students take up to six courses of their choosing with other Goodwin University students directly on the university campus. These courses are not dually enrolled but recorded only on the Goodwin University transcript.

The Advanced Manufacturing Pathway gives scholars the opportunity to obtain industry ready credentials and to earn credits toward a Goodwin University manufacturing degree or certificate. All courses coded BMM are dually enrolled. Scholars may enter this program in the second semester of their sophomore year. Early College Manufacturing Pathway (ECAMP) is offered as a half-day program to students in the Sheff Magnet Region. Students enrolled in this program earn the same 21 credits offered through Connecticut River Academy. Goodwin University also offers dual enrollment courses in Advanced Manufacturing for students in other districts. Scholars take a prerequisite course in each area of interest/pathway, and must earn a B or better or have the recommendation of the teacher to enroll in dual credit courses.

For Connecticut River Academy Schools and Early College Manufacturing Pathway students, as part of the Goodwin University Magnet School System, there is a parent/guardians and scholar orientation at the college where scholars and families are walked through the process. Parents/guardians sign permission for participation in the early college dually enrolled program. At the high school, scholars are guided through completing an online application. When completed, scholars are enrolled as Goodwin University students. For students participating in dual enrollment from other districts, university personnel coordinate with the district liaison to offer enrollment assistance and support.

Goodwin University credits transfer to most public and private institutions in the state and nationally. For example, Goodwin University courses that transfer to the University of Connecticut include: English 101, 102, 240; Communications 101; Calculus; Business 101; Philosophy 103. Holy Apostles College and Seminary

Holy Apostles College and Seminary

Overview

HACS has offered a dual enrollment program called 'Take Credit!' for over five years. We offer residential and online courses. As a school dedicated to affordable educational opportunities, we've offered Take Credit! at 50% discount of our already low tuition rate of $390 per credit (so a 3-credit hour course for TC! students is $585). Historically we've partnered with homeschools and Catholic high schools.

Programming and Partnerships

HUM 104 - Humanities in the Early Christian & Medieval World

SCM 101 - Mathematics among the Liberal Arts

SAI 214 - History of Christian Iconography

ENG 221 - Novels, Short Stories, & Literary Research

Holy Apostles has partnered with many home-school consortiums and Catholic home-school curriculums, many of which serve families in the state of Connecticut. The school also reaches out to public and private Catholic schools in the Cromwell, Middletown, and general Hartford area.

Student Eligibility

Take Credit! students must have already completed their Sophomore year, and hold a 3.0 GPA. The application requires an essay and one letter of reference.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Holy Apostles College and Seminary does not have concurrent enrollment partnerships at this time.

Registration and Fees

All TC! students must apply and be admitted into the program. Registration for courses is done one-on-one with one of the school's undergraduate advisors.

Holy Apostles College and Seminary is accredited by NECHE, and regularly prepares and helps undergraduate students transfer to other in-state institutions.

Take Credit! students are able to take courses at 50% discount of the current institution's credit rate. For the 2022-23 year, the school's tuition rate is $390 per credit hour. So, a TC student can take a 3 credit hour course for $585. A flat $40 registration fee is assessed for each term a student is enrolled. All TC! students receive the same generous discounted rate of $195 per credit hour.

Supports for Multilingual Families

Holy Apostles College and Seminary has a small ESL program to support those students who need additional support. Some staff and administrators are bilingual and are prepared to help families with questions in languages other than English.

Mitchell College

Mitchell College

Overview

We have a dual enrollment partnership with New London Public Schools to offer Mitchell College courses, on the Mitchell campus, to interested and qualified high school juniors and seniors.

Programming and Partnerships

We are currently offering a mix of 3-credit general education and introductory major courses:  General Psychology; Race, Ethnicity, and Culture; State & Local Government; Introduction to Business; Introduction to Early Education; Contemporary Issues in Education; Introduction to Applied Exercise Science.  Students are able to earn Mitchell College credits by satisfactorily completing the course.

Currently, our partnership is with New London Public Schools via a memorandum of agreement.

Student Eligibility

Students are recommended for the program by their high school teachers and guidance counselors. They are reviewed by our Admissions office (as part-time students) and have a dedicated advisor on campus who liaises with the high school.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Courses are delivered by Mitchell College faculty on the Mitchell campus.

Registration and Fees

Dually enrolled students enter Mitchell College through our Admissions Office and are registered as part-time non-degree students.

Because the students take general courses, credits should be transferable to most institutions of higher education, provided the student earned a C or better in the course.

The school system pays $1,000 per student per course and provides transportation for their students to come to campus. Students do not pay to participate in the program.

Supports for Multilingual Families

Ours is a new dual enrollment program. Should we need to translate for families in the future, we can call upon an Education faculty member who is bilingual (English-Spanish) or rely on the high school for support.

Post University

Post University

Overview

At Post University High School Academy (HSA), high school students are able to take undergraduate courses and earn valuable college credit—while they are still in high school. In these university-level courses, students will enhance their academic accomplishments through the experience and rigor of a college course, interact with peers and Post University faculty, and get a head start exploring fields of interest.

Programming and Partnerships

The Post University High School Academy allows students to complete coursework for general education requirements, electives, or explore potential majors in classes filled with like-minded college peers. Students can explore over 50 programs in academic areas only offered at the collegiate level, from paralegal and criminal justice to STEM and marketing. Students earn course credits that can be used for their high school diploma and later for a Post undergraduate degree or certificate.

Post University partners with high schools around the Waterbury community and beyond.

Student Eligibility

Students must provide a high school transcript demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher for admission.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Instructors must have a minimum of a master’s degree in the related discipline in which they would teach.

Registration and Fees

Post University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and by the State of Connecticut. While credits from Post are regularly accepted at universities and colleges across the country, we cannot guarantee that any higher education institution will accept all credits as each institution has its own transferring of credits policy. Post University does however guarantee that credits earned with a grade of “C” or better from the High School Academy will be accepted into undergraduate degree programs at Post University.

The cost is $300 per course—a 90% savings off the cost of a typical undergraduate course at Post University. Plus, there are no additional fees for student services or even books.

Students who continue undergraduate studies after high school at Post University full-time— either at the Main Campus or through our virtual learning options —will be eligible to receive a 20% tuition reduction. This 20% tuition reduction cannot be combined with any other institutional scholarship from Post University. However, the 20% tuition reduction can be combined with scholarships and grants provided by third parties, such as the U.S. Department of Education.

Those students who persist with Post may be eligible for even more generous scholarship opportunities.

Supports for Multilingual Families

Every HSA student is considered a Post University student—meaning they have full access to all the support and resources available, including events, student IDs (which can provide cost-savings and perks at local stores or restaurants), tech support, academic advising, 24/7 tutoring services, and more.

Sacred Heart University

Sacred Heart University

Overview

Sacred Heart University (SHU) offers two options for high school students to earn college credits, Early College Experience (ECE) and Taste of College. In SHU’s Early College Experience, students who attend one of SHU’s partner high schools have the opportunity to enroll in SHU-approved courses as part of their regular high school experience, taking courses in their high school during the school day. The Taste of College program provides opportunities for high school students to enroll in SHU courses that are taught on the SHU campus by SHU faculty. In both programs, students benefit from a reduced tuition rate. In addition, high school students in the Early College Experience program who are eligible for free or reduced- priced meals receive free tuition. Students who successfully complete courses in ECE or a Taste of College will receive SHU college credit. These credits may also be accepted by other higher education institutions at their discretion, based on their transfer credit policies.

Programming and Partnerships

Courses offered by SHU’s Early College Experience partners vary by high school but are generally 100-level introductory courses, such as Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Management, Modern European History, and Introduction to World Religions.

For the Taste of College program, students may take any SHU 100- or 200-level course, subject to availability and as approved by their guidance counselor.

SHU’s Early College Experience partners include Stamford Public School District high schools, Fairfield Public School District high schools, St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull, and Notre Dame High School in Fairfield.

Student Eligibility

For Early College Experience, each high school partner determines student eligibility to enroll in ECE courses. Students should consult with their high school guidance counselor. For a Taste of College, students must apply and submit a high school transcript and letter of recommendation.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Depending on the course offered, relevant college faculty and administrators at SHU evaluate high school teacher qualifications to ensure they meet SHU’s faculty hiring standards as well as applicable accreditation standards.

Registration and Fees

SHU’s Early College Education partners ensure that student information is transmitted to SHU’s Registrar. Taste of College students receive registration instructions from SHU and register upon acceptance into the program. Grades are reported to the SHU Registrar by instructors. All information on registered students is entered into SHU’s Student Information System, which is the source system used by SHU to generate official transcripts.

For SHU’s Early College Experience, tuition is $45 per credit. Tuition is waived for students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Eligibility is identified and reported by the high school.

For Taste of College, tuition is $133 per credit.

Students receive SHU credit for all successfully completed courses through SHU’s Early College Experience program and Taste of College. These credits are documented on an official SHU transcript and may be submitted to other higher education institutions, which may accept these credits at their discretion, based on their transfer credit policies.

Supports for Multilingual Families

SHU offers Spanish speaking tours and can assist families whose primary language is not English thorough our Office of Global Initiatives, which is the home of internationalization at SHU.

Trinity College

Trinity College

Overview

High school students in good standing with their high school may enroll in courses at Trinity for college credit on a space-available basis, with permission of the instructor.  Students must provide a current transcript and a letter of recommendation from their high school. The student receives college credit and may or may not receive high school credit for these courses (it is up to the student’s high school).

Selected students enrolled in the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy (HMTCA) may enroll in Trinity courses for college credit.  The current agreement between HMTCA and Trinity College does not consider Trinity courses taken by HMTCA students as dual enrollment. HMTCA students do not receive any high school credit for classes taken at Trinity. However, they receive college credits for those courses through the Early College Program.

Programming and Partnerships

Trinity College and Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy (HMTCA) have a long-standing partnership. Throughout the years, HMTCA students have enrolled in courses that range from Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III and introductory courses in Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology, Music, English Literature, Computer Science, Chemistry, Classics, Spanish, and Japanese. In Spring 2023, 10 HMTCA high school students are enrolled in Trinity College courses.

Additionally, HMTCA seniors take a high school credit English course in a dedicated classroom on Trinity's campus. HMTCA courses at Trinity allow high school students to experience classes in a college setting. In 2022-23, 60 HMTCA high school seniors are taking high school English courses on Trinity's campus.

Beyond HMTCA, any approved high school student may enroll in any of the liberal arts courses offered at Trinity, with permission of the instructor.

Student Eligibility

HMTCA students who wish to enroll in Trinity courses must complete an HMTCA student application, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, submit their high school transcript, a letter of recommendation, and have the high school counselor's approval. Additionally, students applying for Math courses must take a Math placement test.

Other high school students need to complete the Visiting Students application form, provide a current transcript, and submit a brief letter of recommendation. The recommendation should describe who a student is in their learning community, and must verify that the student is in good standing with the high school. Home schooled students need to provide a current transcript showing courses and grades.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Trinity College does not have concurrent enrollment partnerships at this time.

Registration and Fees

Once applications are received and reviewed by the HMTCA - Trinity College Partnership Program Manager, students receive approval to enroll in Trinity courses. The program manager and the Trinity College registrar's office supervise the enrollment process. Enrollment in Trinity courses is based on seat availability and permission of the department chair and instructor.

If they wish to do so, HMTCA students enrolled in Trinity courses can request a Trinity transcript from the registrar to report their Trinity grades to colleges and universities for placement or credit.

Other high school students are enrolled in courses by Trinity’s Registrar’s Office (if enrollment requirements have been satisfied).  Once they complete the course, they may obtain an official Trinity transcript.  Whether or not the student’s high school counts the course for high school credit is up to the high school.

Each college or university determines which credit to accept. In most cases, Trinity College courses would be transferrable to most in-state institutions.

HMTCA students do not pay Trinity College directly for courses they take. Hartford Public Schools pays Trinity College $1,000 per student per course enrolled. Other high school students pay $6,095 per credit (where 1 credit generally is 1 course) + $65 registration fee.

Supports for Multilingual Families

The HMTCA - Trinity College Partnership Program Manager is bilingual and can communicate with HMTCA students and families in Spanish or English. Materials are likewise often printed in Spanish and English.

University of Bridgeport

University of Bridgeport

Overview

We offer courses ranging from general-education mainstays (English composition, precalculus, elementary physics) to career-directed courses such as accounting and oceanic science and education to specific interest offerings such as Foundations of Entrepreneurship and Introduction to Engineering.

Programming and Partnerships

We have recently been responding to rapidly-growing interest in our business courses, such as Foundations of Entrepreneurship and Business Law and Esports. Our Health Sciences offerings (Fundamentals of Medical Lab Sciences, Dental Hygiene) also correlate with UB’s standing reputation in this field.

UB has maintained ongoing and positive relationships with a number of school districts in the southwest quarter of the state including New Haven, Seymour, Stamford, and Bridgeport itself, in addition to welcoming new partnerships with Coventry schools and Bacon Academy in Colchester.

Student Eligibility

We certify and sanction the course as a whole instead of considering individual students for eligibility. If the student is permitted to be enrolled in that high school course, they are considered eligible for dual credit status.

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

When considering a new teacher, our basic approach is to ask whether we would hire this person as an adjunct instructor for UB’s campus courses. We review a prospective teacher’s background and experience and require the submission of transcripts. The principal must approve the application, which we consider to be a meaningful endorsement.

Registration and Fees

The necessary first step is for each student to submit a parent/guardian consent form. Together with that the student completes an online registration form, including demographic information and course selection. After the two parts are matched and registration is completed, the student is issued a UB identification number which can be used to process the course fee (where applicable). Our posted deadline for application is October 1st and deadline for payment is October 15th.

UB is a fully accredited institution (NECHE and COHE, plus appropriate professional accreditations). We believe that our credits will be recognized by essentially all comparable schools in Connecticut. We have standing reciprocal credit transfer agreements in place with a number of schools in the region and this extends to DE/ECC credits. Student transcripts are subject to a University-standard $7.50 fee.

The cost is $50 per course credit. This usually translates to $150 per course although some math courses in particular count for four credits and therefore $200 per course. We consider eligibility for free or reduced-price meals to be adequate grounds to waive the program fee. Students note their eligibility on the application form, and we confirm that status with the high school.

Supports for Multilingual Families

As the program is essentially an accreditation of courses taught through the partner schools, we do not normally have reason to engage directly with student families. That said, we do host a large number of international students at UB and are capable of handling inquiries and requests in numerous languages.

UConn

Overview

UConn's Office of Early College Programs (OECP) provides students with meaningful academic engagement to enrich their experience in high school and support their transition into college. OECP offers educational opportunities at the high school (Early College Experience), in university classrooms (Dual Enrollment), and through on-campus residential summer programs (Pre-College Summer). OECP’s flagship program, UConn Early College Experience (ECE), established in 1955, is the nation's longest running concurrent enrollment program and is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).  UConn ECE allows high school students to take UConn courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit.  UConn ECE supports approximately 15,000 Connecticut high school students in over 186 partner high school schools with teachers who have been certified by the University of Connecticut to teach UConn courses.  To learn more about UConn's Office of Early College Programs, please visit the program.

Programming and Partnerships

UConn Early College Experience offers 91 courses in 38 disciplines.

The UConn ECE curriculum is designed to offer a variety of general education courses that appeal to a diverse group of students. These challenging courses allow students to experience college work, build confidence in their readiness for college, and earn college credits that provide both an academic and a financial head-start on a college degree. Many UConn ECE courses meet requirements for numerous college majors and for graduation. Courses taken through UConn Early College Experience are equivalent to the same course offered on a University of Connecticut campus. Students follow the same curriculum and grading rubric that has been designed by the University department. To learn more about course offerings, please check out the UConn ECE Course Catalog.

For students who have exhausted the early college options offered at their high school, they may be eligible to take a UConn course at one of UConn’s five campuses through Dual Enrollment. To learn more about UConn’s Dual Enrollment options, please visit our program page

The UConn Early College Experience is proud to partner with over 180 high schools across the state of Connecticut.  To learn more about ECE partner schools and specific course offerings, please refer to the UConn ECE Partner School page

Student Eligibility

UConn ECE partner high schools are responsible for providing program information and guidance to potential UConn ECE Students. Many students are ready as high school juniors or seniors to engage with college work in specific areas of study. UConn ECE extends the responsibility of student gatekeeping to our high schools. Although each high school may have criteria specific to their student population, all UConn ECE partners must utilize the Student Eligibility Guidelines found here: https://ece.uconn.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/2571/2020/12/2023-2024-Student-Eligibility-Guidelines.pdf

Instructor Credentials for Concurrent Enrollment Courses

As Connecticut’s only NACEP accredited program, all UConn ECE instructors must have comparable academic and professional backgrounds to UConn Adjunct Faculty.  Many disciplines require a Master’s Degree in the content area in order to qualify for certification. Other disciplines may accept a Master’s Degree in Education, with a Bachelor’s Degree in the subject area and two or more content-based graduate courses in the appropriate discipline. It is highly unlikely for a first-year teacher to obtain certification.

Discipline-specific requirements for courses may include:

  • Examination of laboratory facilities in the sciences
  • Class size policy
  • Submission of specific curriculum materials requested
  • Purchase of an approved textbook
  • Appropriate class time scheduled to insure reasonable comparability to the scheduling of the course on campus

UConn ECE encourages all interested instructors to review the specific requirements set forth by each University Department.

Registration and Fees

UConn Early College Experience Students register online for their courses using the UConn ECE registration system at UConn.DualEnroll.com. All Student registration requests once submitted must be approved by the high school Site Representative, approved by a parent/guardian, and payment information collected (if applicable) to be processed.

Please reference the 2022-2023 Student Registration Guide for general registration information and a course planning guide. For detailed instructions on the registration process reference the UConn ECE Student Step-by-Step Guide. Registration runs from mid-August through early October each year. To learn more about registration and access guides and resources, visit here: https://ece.uconn.edu/students-parents/student-registration/

High school students taking on-campus courses through UConn’s Dual Enrollment program are subject to the same registration policies as other UConn non-degree students. This includes:

  • An eight-credit limit per term

  • A later registration period than degree students- See full registration schedule for details.

  • Registration based on a space availability.

Because seating is limited, it is highly recommended that all registration documentation be submitted for review at least two weeks prior to the start of the registration period. If approved, the student’s registration request will then be submitted for processing on the first day of non-degree registration.  To learn more, please visit registration information here: https://oecp.uconn.edu/registration/

UConn Early College Experience credits successfully transfer to other colleges and universities nationally at a rate of 87%. Students do not need to attend UConn to have your courses recognized.

While UConn ECE cannot guarantee course recognition on behalf of another college or university, the program strives to make the transfer of credits from one institution to another as simple as possible.  To learn more about requesting a UConn transcript to transfer UConn credits earned through ECE go here: https://ece.uconn.edu/students-parents/transfer-credit-info/

UConn's Early College Experience (ECE) program provides access to UConn courses at a savings of over 90% University tuition.  UConn ECE fees are $50 per registered course credit:

  • 1 credit course = $50
  • 2 credit course = $100
  • 3 credit course = $150
  • 4 credit course = $200

High school students taking on-campus courses through Dual Enrollment are billed at the same rate as other non-degree students. They are not billed at the same rate as an Early College Experience course offered at the high school. Learn more about current Non-Degree Fees

Student fee waivers are available for the UConn Early College Experience (ECE) program. Students who qualify for the Federal Free/Reduced Price Meal Program are eligible for a full program fee waiver. Students attending private schools (any non-public school) who receive a need-based reduction of tuition (a need-based scholarship) from their high school will receive a UConn ECE fee waiver for all UConn courses taken through UConn ECE. Eligibility for the Free/Reduced Price Meals Program is to be indicated by the student and confirmed by the Site Representative during the registration process. Eligibility for the private school waiver must be confirmed by the Site Representative.

At this time, no universal fee waivers exist for students taking UConn courses through Dual Enrollment courses at one of the 5 regional campuses.
