(HARTFORD, CT) - Yesterday, Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Commissioner Michelle Gilman joined over 600 industry leaders in technology and education at the 10th Annual Connecticut Education Network (CEN) Conference. Participants included professionals in higher education, public and private K-12 educational institutions, libraries, state and municipal governments, and more. The conference featured training, collaboration, education, and networking opportunities for participants.
CEN, Connecticut’s Trusted Internet Partner, provides the backbone for community growth and development across the state. Since 2000, CEN’s primary focus has been and continues to be meeting the needs of Connecticut’s community anchor institutions including: education, health care, and research organizations, municipal and state government facilities, public libraries, and businesses. CEN is governed by DAS’ Commission for Educational Technology.
“At the Department of Administrative Services, we are committed to taking modern approaches and implementing innovative solutions to provide accessible, easy to use, and sustainable services to Connecticut residents," DAS Commissioner Michelle Gilman said. “We are taking a 360-degree approach to developing and implementing a digital government by not only bringing services online, but also ensuring all Connecticut residents can access state services and participate in our ever-growing digital society.”
DAS is charged with implementing and overseeing the information technology infrastructure for the State of Connecticut’s Executive Branch agencies. DAS, through its Commission for Educational Technology, is also developing a Digital Equity Plan to address the digital divide in the State of Connecticut – ensuring all Connecticut residents have the access, infrastructure, and education to utilize technology to participate in our society. “We are proud of the progress our teams have made in the spaces of digital government, cybersecurity, and digital equity. The State of Connecticut’s progress is a true testament to the community partnerships between education and technology institutions,” DAS Commissioner Gilman said.
