STATE POLICE, LT. GOVERNOR WYMAN TO ANNOUNCE CRACKDOWN ON DISTRACTED DRIVING
Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman and the Connecticut State Police will hold a news conference on Monday, March 28 to announce the launch of a police crackdown on distracted driving during the first two weeks of April.
The crackdown - focused on distracted driving caused by cell phone use behind the wheel - is part of a federal pilot program for which only Connecticut and New York were selected.
Municipal police in Hartford, West Hartford and East Hartford were also chosen to participate in the program, which is designed to measure if enforcement drives up compliance and drives down distracted-type crashes in the Hartford area.
The news conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. in Room 310 (Old Appropriations) at the State Capitol in Hartford.
