LT. GOVERNOR WYMAN TO ATTEND NATIONAL LIEUTENANT

GOVERNOR'S ASSOCIATION MEETING IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will join her peers at the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) meeting in Washington D.C. this week, focusing on a range of issues including budgets, energy, housing, health care and veterans.

The meeting runs from March 21 - 23 and approximately 30 Lt. Governors are expected to attend. Agenda highlights include meetings with:

• The head of the Veterans Affairs benefits administration on issues related to support for military servicemen and women. A policy resolution will be considered which would promote ways to match more veterans with their full range of benefits.

• Members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation regarding Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and federal health care reform.

• The administration's leader for fossil fuels and with the Energy Secretary's counsel on the electric grid.

• The General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development concerning the largest joint federal-state civil settlement in the nation's history. The settlement leverages $25 billion from the nation's largest mortgage servicers to provide homeowner relief by requiring banks to reduce the principal on many loans and refinance loans for underwater borrowers.

• The federal coordinator for health information technology.

• The Ambassadors of Brazil and Romania regarding how international trade can positively impact state budgets. Lt. Gov. Wyman will also hear from the head of one of Washington's premier trade agencies on worldwide opportunities for growing Connecticut business.
