LT. GOVERNOR WYMAN STATEMENT ON ACCESS HEALTH ENROLLMENT GOALS
198,000 Connecticut Residents Enrolled, Far Surpassing Enrollment Goals
(HARTFORD, CT) - Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, the Chair of the Access Health CT Board, released the following statement in response to Representative Larry Cafero on Access Health CT enrollment numbers:
"Representative Cafero is wrong," said Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman. "Connecticut is well-recognized as a national leader in effectively implementing the Affordable Care Act, exceeding enrollment targets set by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget office by 136 percent and exceeding our own goals by 98 percent. This is success by any definition.
"As a reminder to those who are looking for failure, the most important issue here is that each one of those numbers represents a person whose life is made better because they now have affordable insurance and better access to health care. Many have health insurance for the first time, can access preventative services, get care for chronic conditions and have added peace of mind-and that is our biggest success. "
