LT. GOV. WYMAN, ACTING COMMISSIONER ADAMS HIGHLIGHT FINANCIAL SERVICES AVAILABLE TO MILITARY AND VETERANS
(HARTFORD, CT) -Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Connecticut Department of Banking Acting Commissioner Bruce Adams are encouraging military men and women to participate in Military Saves week, a national campaign coordinated in partnership with the Department of Defense's Financial Readiness Campaign. The goal is to motivate, support, and encourage military families to build wealth, reduce debt, and save for retirement.
"Military Saves week is a great opportunity to highlight the financial resources available to our service members and veterans-everything from help preparing for deployment to tax assistance to protecting assets," said Lt. Governor Wyman. "We are grateful for all that our military men and women have done, and continue to do, in defense of our freedoms and democracy. Ensuring that they have housing, employment, and financial services assistance is paramount to a strong future."
"Gaining financial independence starts with getting educated," said Acting Commissioner Adams. "Military members require specific guidance and expertise to navigate the unique challenges they face. The resources we offer will help service men and women-and their families-create a financial plan, set goals, and start taking the right steps toward building economic security."
The Connecticut Department of Banking provides free online educational resources to help service members evaluate investment risk and protect and build assets. Additional resources for veterans and military families are available on veterans.ct.gov, a one-stop services portal launched in 2012 by Governor Malloy and Lt. Governor Wyman.
National Military Saves week begins February 23 and runs through the 28.
