Lt. Gov. Wyman Statement On Senate Vote To Reject Nomination Of Justice Andrew McDonald
(Hartford, CT) – Lt. Governor Wyman released a statement following the vote in the Connecticut State Senate to reject Justice Andrew McDonald’s nomination to be Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court:
“Justice McDonald is eminently qualified to be the Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. What is very clear is that this wasn’t a process to an appointment, it was a shameful display of retribution and hubris that sets a dangerous precedent for how we move forward. More than being disappointed in this vote and that we lost the opportunity to have this talented, dedicated jurist lead the state’s highest court, I’m heartbroken that this good man—one who has, for decades, served Connecticut honorably and with integrity—was subjected to treatment that was so disrespectful to him and to his body of work. This is not a proud day for our state.”
