What is the DeafBlind Advisory Committee?

Advisory Committee:

There will be a group to help the Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind with important decisions. Before making big plans or changes, the group will review them. They will meet at least four times a year, with extra meetings if needed.

The committee will include:

  • An administrator, a board member, and a coordinator from the Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind.
  • A representative from Oak Hill School.
  • People from the Department of Developmental Services (central office, Southbury, and Mansfield).
  • A representative from the Commission on the Deaf and Hearing Impaired.
  • A representative from the New England Regional Center.
  • One-third of the members will be parents (including at least one from Southbury and one from Oak Hill).
  • Experts may also be invited, like those from the American Foundation for the Blind and the Helen Keller National Center for DeafBlind Youths and Adults.
