• Multi-State Coalition Wins Federal Commitment To Strengthen Key Energy-Efficiency Standards

  Connecticut, as part of a multi-state coalition, has reached agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on a new timetable for updating overdue energy-efficiency standards for certain new appliances and equipment, Attorney General George Jepsen and Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty announced today.

  The owners of a Pennsylvania power plant have agreed to stop burning coal in two generating units and to provide $1 million towards environmental mitigation in Connecticut and New Jersey as part of a clean air settlement announced today by Attorney General George Jepsen and Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty.

  Connecticut has joined with other states and the federal government in a $500 million settlement with Ranbaxy, a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer based in India, Attorney General George Jepsen, Department of Social Services Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby today announced that Connecticut has joined with other states and the federal government in a settlement with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to resolve allegations of off-label marketing of the immunosuppressive drug, Rapamune.

• Eligible Connecticut Borrowers Who Lost Homes to Foreclosure To Receive Nearly $7 Million from National Settlement

  Attorney General George Jepsen said today that as a result of the national mortgage foreclosure servicing settlement, nearly $7 million is being distributed in Connecticut to approximately 5,000 Connecticut borrowers who lost their homes to foreclosure.

• Consumer Counsel Katz, AG Jepsen: Agreement Provides $10 Million in Refunds to Connecticut Water Co. Customers

  Due to changes in the federal Internal Revenue Service’s accounting regulations, Connecticut Water Co. stands to recover approximately $10 million for taxes paid since 2010 and, under a settlement agreement finalized today, the company will refund those dollars to its customers over a two-year period, Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz and Attorney General George Jepsen announced.
