AG Jepsen: Connecticut Joins $41.2M Multistate Settlement with Hyundai, Kia over Fuel Economy Claims
The state of Connecticut will receive $1,490,190 as part of a multistate settlement with automakers Hyundai and Kia to resolve claims that the companies misrepresented the mileage and fuel economy ratings for some of their model year 2011, 2012 and 2013 vehicles, Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz today welcomed an interim decision from the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority ordering electric supplier Palmco Power CT, LLC to issue notices to all of its existing customers advising them how to immediately switch to the standard offer provided by either Eversource Energy or The United Illuminating Company.

Attorney General George Jepsen today joined with 19 other state attorneys general in filing a federal lawsuit against generic drug-makers Heritage Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Aurobindo Pharma USA, Inc., Citron Pharma, LLC, Mayne Pharma (USA), Inc., Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. alleging that they entered into illegal conspiracies in order to unreasonably restrain trade, artificially inflate and manipulate prices and reduce competition in the United States for two drugs: doxycycline hyclate delayed release, an antibiotic, and glyburide, an oral diabetes medication.

Attorney General George Jepsen joined 14 other state attorneys general today in announcing a $1 million data breach settlement with the software and technology company Adobe Systems, Inc. The settlement resolves an investigation into the 2013 breach of certain Adobe servers, including servers containing the personal information of approximately 552,000 residents of the participating states.

A New York-based property management company will provide $187,095 restitution to its Connecticut subcontractors and will pay a $50,000 civil penalty to the state of Connecticut under a settlement agreement resolving an investigation into the manner in which it calculated bonuses owed to its subcontractors, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Connecticut has joined a $19.5 million multistate settlement with drug-maker Bristol-Myers Squibb to resolve allegations that the company improperly marketed the atypical antipsychotic drug, Abilify, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris announced today.

Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that, under a settlement with state attorneys general, Volkswagen will pay more than $570 million for violating state laws prohibiting unfair or deceptive trade practices by marketing, selling and leasing certain diesel vehicles equipped with illegal and undisclosed emissions defeat devices designed to circumvent emissions standards.

A Tolland psychiatrist will pay $404,798 to settle a civil False Claims Act lawsuit alleging that she submitted false claims for payments to Connecticut's Medicaid program. The resolution stems from a lawsuit and settlement agreement approved yesterday by a Hartford Superior Court judge, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.
