• 3/1/2020 Attorney General Tong Statement on Supreme Court Consideration of ACA Case

  Attorney General William Tong today issued the following statement regarding the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to review the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act individual mandate.

• 3/1/2020 Attorney General Tong Joins Bipartisan Coalition in Defending States’ Rights to Regulate the Rising Cost of Prescription Drugs

  Attorney General William Tong today joined a bipartisan coalition of 46 attorneys general filing an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court supporting states’ rights to regulate and address the rising cost of prescription drugs. In Rutledge v. Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, the attorneys general argue that in order to protect the well-being of consumers, states must regulate pharmacy benefit managers, also known as PBMs.

• 2/24/2020 Attorney General Tong Releases Testimony in Support of Update to Connecticut Data Breach Notification Statute

  Attorney General William Tong today testified before the General Law Committee in support of Senate Bill 137, An Act Concerning Data Privacy Breaches. The bill, sought by the Office of the Attorney General, updates and strengthens Connecticut’s breach notification statute.

• 2/3/2020 Attorney General Tong, DSS Commissioner Gifford Announce $200,000 Settlement and Suspension Agreement with East Hartford Behavioral Health Providers, Resolving False Claims Act Lawsuit

  Attorney General William Tong and Connecticut Department of Social Services Commissioner Deidre S. Gifford announced today that an East Hartford company and its owner have agreed to pay $200,000, and will be suspended from participating in the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program (CMAP) for a period of five years, for allegedly engaging in a systematic and persistent pattern of submitting false claims to the CMAP, which includes the state's Medicaid program.

  Attorney General William Tong announced that Connecticut and other states have reached a $118.6 million civil settlement agreement with Practice Fusion, Inc., resolving allegations that the company accepted payments from specific drug manufacturers in exchange for promoting the manufacturers' drugs to physicians using Practice Fusion's software.
