Trade Practices Division
The Trade Practices Division works to protect consumers from harm resulting from work performed by real estate brokers and agents, real estate appraisers and community association managers. Division staff also conducts continuing education audits and does complaint work as part of the oversight of registered home improvement contractors.
In addition, the division’s Product Safety and Bedding Unit enforces many safety regulations for toys and other children’s articles. Important laws include the Connecticut State Child Protection Act and the Federal Consumer Product Safety Act.
In addition to real estate the Division administers the Lemon Law (New Vehicle Dispute Resolution) program for the state.
