On Friday, August 14th, 2020, The Board of Physicians held a public meeting to discuss a petition for the addition of two conditions to the Medical Marijuana Program.
The following recommendations from the Board were accepted by the Commissioner:
- Chronic Pancreatitis: Recommended for Adults with Chronic Pancreatitis, and for patients under 18 with Chronic Pancreatitis “whose pain is recalcitrant to standard medical management.”
- Acute Pancreatitis: Not recommended for addition to the Medical Marijuana Program
“We value the thoughtful discussion, and the recommendations of each Board member,” said Consumer Protection Deputy Commissioner Arunan Arulampalam, who chaired the meeting, “We continue to be thankful for the knowledge and contributions of the Board, as well as the efforts of the staff of our Medical Marijuana Program who have worked hard to serve the over 44,000 patients in the program.”
The recommended conditions will be added to the Medical Marijuana Program’s regulations, subject to approval by the Regulations Review Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly.
