Overview
The need
Expansion for a growing business.
The solution
Assistance from the First Five Plus program.
The story
ASML makes the equipment that chipmakers use to make the microchips now found in just about every electronic device. With business growing and technology constantly evolving, the company needed more space to combine its design engineering, procurement and manufacturing functions, and to build a new test center, all at its campus in Wilton — investments totaling more than $111 million.
Through the First Five Plus program, the state agreed to provide up to $14 million in grants, and ASML agreed to create 524 new jobs, with $7 million being released incrementally as the company met job-creation targets.
The results
ASML has already opened its new development and engineering labs, expects to have its new manufacturing and office space open in August 2019 and has already created 351 new jobs, bringing its workforce to 1,573 as of September 2018.
