Electric Vehicle Incentives
Federal, state and community incentives make electric vehicles and charging stations more affordable than ever. Check this site often for new incentive programs offered by DEEP and others. Here are some current incentives that can save you money now:
CHEAPR
The Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) offers up to $5,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new clean vehicle. There are over thirty qualifying vehicles under this program.

Charge Up CT Buildings Program
Applications must be submitted before May 15, 2020!
Building owners who use Connecticut Green Bank C-PACE financing for a qualifying energy saving project could receive up to three free electric vehicle charging stations for their property!
Make your building more comfortable, modern and enjoyable, while also bringing the latest in electric vehicle charging technology to your property. With Charge Up CT, you can use C-PACE to upgrade your building. VW Settlement
As a result of the Volkswagen settlement, Connecticut is eligible to administer over $55 million to mitigate excess diesel emissions caused by VW's actions. Grant programs cover a range of heavy duty mobile source projects. In addition, funds will be used to bolster Connecticut's light duty electric vehicle infrastructure.

Eversource EV Rate Program
Eversource is offering a voluntary electric vehicle rate program which is available to any level 2 or level 3 charging station whose load is separately metered and available for use by the public. Eligibility for this rate is subject to the review and approval of Eversource.

Federal Tax Credits
Electric Vehicles
EVs purchased on or after 2010 may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500. Find out more on fueleconomy.gov
EV Charging Stations
Congress retroactively extended the alternative vehicle refueling equipment tax credit through December 31, 2020. Consumers could be eligible for up to a 30% federal tax credit for the cost of the EVSE and installation. For more information about the tax credit please see the US Dept. of Energy website.
Energize Connecticut
Energize Connecticut is an initiative dedicated to empowering Connecticut citizens to make smart energy choices, now and in the future. They provide Connecticut consumers, businesses and communities the resources and information they need to make it easy to save energy and build a clean energy future for everyone in the state. The initiative is funded by a charge on customer energy bills.
