Managing Waste & Recycling at Special Events and Other Venues
"There must be a reason why some people can afford to live well. They must have worked for it. I only feel angry when I see waste. When I see people throwing away things we could use." ~ Mother Teresa
Agricultural fairs, speedway events, heritage days, flower shows, runs for cancer, concerts, and events at civic and conference centers are all places we go to for fun, entertainment, or to feel connected to the community. However, these activities generate trash in their operations and during our participation.
As we seek to increase our recycling and recovery rates in Connecticut, everyone needs to do their part. Below are resources to help organizers and coordinators of different types of events think about how to create a strong and comprehensive recycling and waste recovery program.
Recycling bins for special events, concerts, fairs, and festivals are now available to Connecticut communities through the Special Events Recycling Bin Loan Program.
