Environmental factors play a significant role in the health of people with asthma. Ambient air pollutants pose a risk to individuals with asthma. Attention to the quality of indoor environments has grown in recognition. Pollutants can concentrate in the indoor air which can result in significant unhealthy exposures. Biological and chemical exposures found in the indoor environment of homes, schools and workplaces can affect those with asthma. The knowledge of and avoidance of individual environmental asthma triggers is an essential part of asthma management.
The Asthma Regional Council of New England Mission:
"To reduce the impact of asthma across New England, through collaborations of health, housing, education, and environmental organizations with particular focus on the contribution of schools, homes, and communities to the disease and with attention to its disproportionate impact on populations at greatest risk."
"The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people." The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, is dedicated to preserving the natural environment and the life forms it supports.
