Alzheimer's Respite Care Program
This program offers relief to stressed caregivers by providing information, support, the development of an appropriate plan of care, and services for the individual with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. Administered by the Department on Aging.

Autism Spectrum Disorder - ASD
The Department of Social Services Waiver for Persons with Autism provides home-and community-based services to individuals with autism who do not have an intellectual disability (a full IQ score of 70 or higher).

Board of Education and Services for the Blind
The Board of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB) is responsible for the confidential registry of people who are blind in Connecticut and provides, within available resources, comprehensive low vision services, specialized education services, life skills training, case management, and vocational services to individuals of all ages who are legally blind and to children who are visually impaired.

CHOICES is CT's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for Medicare Beneficiaries.
CHOICES Is administered by the State of Connecticut Department on Aging, in partnership with the Area Agencies on Aging and the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc. Our mission is to empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible individuals, their families, and caregivers through objective outreach, counseling, and training to make informed health insurance decisions that optimize access to care and benefits.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to help improve the health of low-income persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious food products provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Are you or a loved one living in the community and need assistance to remain there? The Affordable Care Act created an optional State Plan service which will allow eligible individuals to access Personal Attendant Care (PCA) and other services and supports through self-direction.

The State of Connecticut offers a variety of services to help eligible individuals who need support to live at home or to return to community living. Many of the programs are administered under a Medicaid ‘waiver,’ meaning that Connecticut has received federal approval to waive certain Medicaid requirements to meet the service needs of older adults and adults with disabilities in the community.
