Special Notices for Electronic Asset Verification
Overview
Beginning in February 2020, the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) will conduct asset verifications electronically through a web-based system administered by the Public Consulting Group Inc. (PCG), in partnership with Accuity Asset Verification Services, Inc.
The asset verifications are for Medicaid applicants and recipients who are 65 or older, blind or with disability, and any other individuals such as spouses and sponsors whose assets are needed to determine the Medicaid eligibility. This is to comply with federal law and a directive from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Through the new system, DSS will attempt to electronically verify assets held in financial institutions for all individuals applying for and/or receiving Medicaid for the Aged, Blind or Disabled (also known in Connecticut as HUSKY C). The Department may be required, however, to request verifications depending on the Asset Verification System results.
PCG and Accuity are accredited and ensure that all data is encrypted in order to maintain a high standard of safeguard and confidentiality. Through DSS, the State of Connecticut has joined the New England States Consortium Systems Organization in this electronic verification program.
