What Can I Buy With S-EBT?
A S-EBT card looks and works like a debit card. The benefits on your card must be used to shop for food.
What you can buy with your S-EBT card
- You can buy groceries, such as:
- Fruits and vegetables;
- Meat, poultry, fish;
- Dairy products;
- Breads and cereals;
- Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages;
- Seeds and plants, to grow food to eat.
- You can’t buy:
- Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, or tobacco
- Vitamins, medicines, and supplements. If an item has a Supplement Facts label, it is considered a supplement and is not eligible for SNAP purchase.
- Live animals (except shellfish, fish removed from water, and animals slaughtered prior to pick-up from the store).
- Foods that are hot when sold
- Any nonfood items such as:
- Pet foods
- Cleaning supplies, paper products, and other household supplies.
- Hygiene items, cosmetics
