  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement in response to the release of the Connecticut Department of Labor's monthly "Labor Situation" report for March 2015.

• 4/17/2015 Gov. Malloy Selects Dr. Dianna Wentzell as Commissioner of the Department of Education

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is selecting Dr. Dianna R. Wentzell to serve as Commissioner of the State Department of Education.  Dr. Wentzell, a former teacher with over 25 years of experience as an educator in Connecticut, has been serving as the department's Interim Commissioner since January.

  Today at 1:00 p.m., Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will hold a news conference at the State Capitol in Hartford to announce an administrative appointment.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that, through diligence by the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS), the state has identified and saved taxpayers over $14 million in fraudulent claims within 2014 filings so far this season.

• 4/15/2015 Gov. Malloy: Tourism Industry Contributes $14 Billion to Connecticut's Economy, Adding 5,000 Jobs in Recent Years

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the results of an economic impact study of the tourism industry in Connecticut, showing that the sector of the state's economy generated $14 billion in total sales in 2013 - a three-percent increase from the prior year. The study also shows that tourism supports more than 118,000 jobs statewide - including 80,000 direct jobs - representing 5.3 percent of all employment in the state. Approximately 5,000 new jobs have been created in the industry since the end of the recession.

  On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a media availability in Bethany, where he will highlight a small town capital improvement project. He will be joined by First Selectman Derrylyn Gorski and other local officials.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in accordance to a proclamation from President Barack Obama, U.S. and state flags should fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in recognition of the national "Day of Remembrance for President Abraham Lincoln."

• 4/13/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces New Competitive Funding Round to Support the Development of Affordable Housing Throughout the State

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that another round of funding under the state's Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) program has opened, creating additional opportunities for affordable housing development in the state. Applications for this round - the seventh since Governor Malloy took office in 2011 - are due to the Connecticut Department of Housing by June 10, 2015.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Hartford Business Improvement District, the City of Hartford and the State of Connecticut will host a victory parade and rally in downtown Hartford on Sunday, April 12, 2015 to congratulate the UConn Women's Basketball team for winning the 2015 NCAA Basketball National Championship.

• 4/9/2015 Friday: Gov. Malloy Holds Cabinet Meeting; Attends Supportive Housing Groundbreaking in Hamden

  On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will hold a cabinet meeting with the commissioners of every state agency, during which Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker will give an update on the Governor's initiative to create a best-in-class transportation system for Connecticut.
