Being college and career ready in the disciplines of History, Civics, Geography, Economics and all of the Social Studies requires that students have the ability to comprehend and communicate complex ideas from high level texts. The Grade 6-12 CCSS Literacy Standards provide a literacy framework to achieve college and career readiness by supporting the crucial reading, writing, speaking and listening skills that are needed to be a U.S. and global citizen. |
To be prepared to live in a diverse 21st Century world, students must be open to acquiring additional languages and the Grade 6-12 CCSS Literacy Standards provide a literacy framework that is aligned with Language Study. The intent of both CCSS Literacy Standards and World Language Standards are the same – learning to read, write, speak and listen at high levels. |
