EdAdvance BASES Regional Approach to Expanding School-Age Care Programs
BASES 30th Anniversary from EdAdvance on Vimeo.
The staff of the EdAdvance BASES (Before & After School Extended Services) program, operating before and after school programs in six districts in western and northwestern CT, recently contributed to the development of guidelines for school-age care programs to operate safely during these challenging times. In response to districts asking for assistance with full-day care options to offer their staff as they return to work, EdAdvance is working with their current BASES districts to explore the possibility of expanding their existing before and after school programs to offer flexible, regionalized full-day programs for children of district employees and families to accommodate the schedules of hybrid models.
EdAdvance BASES is also exploring leveraging its relationships state-wide, including the CT After School Network, on providing full-day programming for students in grades K-8 and to share research on best practices, documents and resources to inform programmatic decisions for school districts in their region.
