Restore Deleted Items

The Sitecore Recycle Bin works just like your computer's recycle bin. Any item deleted, be it a folder, page, image, or document file, will be moved to this area indefinitely. Items will not be deleted from the Recycle Bin unless a System Administrator manually deletes the items.

NOTE: The Recycle Bin is global, meaning that every deleted item from all Agencies in Sitecore will be displayed.
To retrieve deleted items, follow these steps:

1. Select the Sitecore icon at the top left of the screen.
   • You will be directed to the Sitecore Dashboard with multiple icons.
2. Select the Recycle Bin  icon from the options.
   • The Recycle Bin screen appears with the following functions:
     
     
     • Restore: Restores the item(s) to it’s original location in Sitecore
     • Delete: Deletes item(s) from the Recycle Bin permanently. NOTE: Take caution when perform this function. There is no easy way to recover items once they’ve been permanently deleted from Sitecore’s Recycle Bin.
     • Empty: Deletes every item listed NOTE: Do NOT perform this function!
     • Refresh: Refreshes the list of items
     • Show Versions: Displays the versions of the selected item(s) below the list.
       
       
   • Below that is a list of deleted items with a Search bar to the right.
     
     
3. Locate the file(s) you wish to restore to it’s original location. This can be done multiple ways.
   • Scroll through the list of items
     • Select the pagination arrows at the bottom of the screen to jump to different pages.
     • Select the column titles to order the list items by that column
   • Search for a specific item
     • Name: File name
     • Original Location: File Location
     • Date: Date deleted
     • By: System Administrator user name
4. Select the item(s).
   • Selected items will be highlighted in blue.
5. Select the Restore   icon from the Sitecore Ribbon.
   • A dialog box will appear asking if you want to restore the item.
6. Select OK.

The file is now restored in the same location as where it was originally deleted.
