The Ombudsperson:
- Listens to questions, complaints, and concerns.
- Serves as a resource for information.
- Finds answers, makes referrals, and explains DDS policies and procedures.
- Offers neutral consultation and facilitates fair and equitable solutions.
- Monitors state and federal laws and regulations and agency policies affecting the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Reports monthly to the Council on Developmental Services.
- Reports yearly to the Legislature.
