Dawne L. Recinos, Psy.D.
Dawne L. Recinos, Psy.D. joined the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in March 2007 as a Consulting Psychologist in the South Region’s Public Program Division. In June 2010, she was promoted to the position of Supervising Psychologist. She provides clinical and administrative supervision for the South Region’s Public Division psychology staff members and she is the lead clinician for the forensic programs at the Meriden Campus.
Dr. Recinos has worked for the State of Connecticut for 23 years, beginning at the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) as a Mental Health Worker at Fairfield Hills Hospital where she provided direct care to individuals in adult and geriatric inpatient services from 1991 to1994. From 1994 to 2001, she worked as an outpatient clinician at Greater Bridgeport Mental Health Center providing case management, crisis evaluation and management, as well as individual and group therapy services for adults. From 2002 to 2007, Dr. Recinos worked as a Research Associate for the University of Connecticut Research Division, within DMHAS’ Central Office, interfacing with staff at study sites to facilitate study recruitment and retention, providing crisis consultation and supervision for interviewers, recruiting study participants, and conducting informed consent and administering clinical interview batteries with study participants. From 2001 to 2002, Dr. Recinos completed the internship requirements for her Psy.D. at the West Haven Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Connecticut.
Dr. Recinos earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. In 2004, she was awarded her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Recinos is an active member of the American Psychological Association.
