Hearing evaluations are done by students in the Communication Disorders program, under supervision by licensed audiologists. Evaluation is to determine the need for hearing aids. People who need hearing aids can purchase them from the center at 80% of the cost for hearing aids at a private provider.

Assistive Technology Specialists provide evaluations for people with disabilities to assess how adaptive equipment can be used to enhance home and workplace environments. Evaluations address the need for home or workplace adaptations, augmentative and alternative communication systems, computer access, daily living aids, and other adaptive equipment for work and independent living. Assistive technology equipment is available for loan on a trial basis to ensure a successful match between user and the recommended equipment. Training on the use of daily living and independent living tools/devices is also provided. Assistive technology equipment includes devices that enhance augmentative and alternative communication, telecommunication, vision and hearing, learning and development, computer access, memory and organization, and recreational and leisure activities.

The resources included in these guidelines are to be used as examples for administrators, families, and educators. Although not an exhaustive list, these are the most up-to-date documents, publications and materials that are being used by professionals in the AT field.
