Who Do We Serve?
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has been providing services in Connecticut to individuals with intellectual disability since the early 1900’s. We serve over 20,000 people including 4,000 infants and toddlers in our Birth-to-Three Program. Individuals receive services; in their own homes or apartments, in a Community Companion Home (CCH), Community Living Arrangement (CLA), residential center or the Southbury Training School (STS). We also provide day programs to thousands of individuals and support competitive employment for others. Services are performed by both public and private sector employees. We have over 195 private providers who partner with us to provide these services. State Services are not an entitlement but are extremely valuable to so many families who have them.
