I/DD and Dementia Workshop
You are invited to attend an innovative educational workshop (flyer) with a focus on intellectual and developmental disabilities and dementia. This workshop, created by the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices is facilitated nationally, and it is coming to Connecticut on October 15th-17th!
This workshop is for you if you are a direct care staff or healthcare professional serving persons with intellectual disabilities (who are at greater risk for developing dementia), or a family member caring for a person living with an intellectual disability and dementia. Note that there are different price points, depending upon your role. Family members are able to come at a very low cost ($15).
For the first two days (October 15th and 16th), a foundational workshop is being offered. Here, you will learn about Down’s syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease, communication tips and strategies, and so much more!
For direct care staff and healthcare professionals, please consider attending all three days which includes the foundational training and an additional train the trainer day! Here, you will be provided with a wealth of resources that will be accessible to you after the training. You can train others in your own organization or other organizations. Attending this training will also help to cultivate your leadership capacity.
