Gov. Malloy: Economic Development Critical at Waterbury-Oxford Airport
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Connecticut Airport Authority Chair Mary Ellen Jones and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, today announced that the 11-member Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) Board of Directors has unanimously voted to create an economic development incentive zone at Waterbury-Oxford Airport, Connecticut's busiest general aviation airport.

Gov. Malloy: FSC CT, Inc. Relocated Financial Firm to Greenwich
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $5 million in loans and grants to FSC CT, Inc. to relocate Fifth Street’s operations to Greenwich. The company, through its Fifth Street affiliates, will bring approximately 50 jobs from its present location in White Plains, New York, and plans to add at least 46 more jobs as it grows over the coming decade.

Gov. Malloy: Norwalk's Akademos Will Expand, Create Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $400,000 in grants and loans to Norwalk-based Akademos, Inc. The funding, through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), will help the online book seller expand its operations and hire seven additional employees.

Monday: Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation Encouraging the Increase of Connecticut Exports into Foreign Markets and Growth of Local Businesses
On Monday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony at Test Logic, a small business located in Middletown, where he will sign legislation (Public Act 13-56) that allows the state to prioritize economic assistance to certain businesses that are pursuing global commerce and will help get more Connecticut products into foreign markets.

Gov. Malloy Announces Emergency Assistance for State's Weather-Damaged Farms
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced emergency assistance is available to the Connecticut farms that have suffered unrecoverable losses in production and property damage in 2013 due to severe weather events, including excessive precipitation this past month. A total of $5 million has been designated for these grants, with individual awards based on the number of qualifying applications received by the July 15, 2013, deadline.

Gov. Malloy: Wallingford's Z-Medica Growth Will Create Jobs, Expand Clinical Research
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a $1.7 million loan to assist Wallingford medical device manufacturer Z-Medica buy new equipment in support of the company's current expansion plans. Z-Medica makes and distributes sterile traumatic wound products that rapidly stop high volume blood loss.

Gov. Malloy: State/Local Partnerships Restore Brownfield Sites for Economic Development

Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith and other state and local officials, today announced that Bridgeport, Naugatuck, Newington, North Haven, Plainville, and Trumbull will receive a total of more than $6.5 million in grants and loans to clean up eight blighted brownfield sites.

Gov. Malloy: Cannondale Expands Operations, Establishes Wilton Headquarters
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Bond Commission will consider a $3 million loan to assist Cannondale Sports Unlimited (CSU) establish a new headquarters and add 75 new jobs in Wilton. The company will handle marketing, research and development, and product design in approximately 50,000 square feet of leased space in Wilton's I-Park.

Gov. Malloy: NewOak Capital Establishes New Operations in Danbury
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, and state and local officials, today announced that NewOak Capital, a financial services firm based in New York City, will establish NewOak Credit Services, LLC in Danbury. The expansion is expected to create up to 100 new jobs within three years.

Gov. Malloy: Company Expansions in Wethersfield and Sprague Will Create and Retain 274 Jobs in Five Years
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $5 million in loans to support the expansion of three Connecticut small businesses. The funding will help businesses in Wethersfield and Sprague expand operations, retain 156 jobs, and create 118 new jobs.
