A truck is defined as a motor vehicle designed, used, or maintained primarily for the transportation of property. A through truck is one that passes through a town without having an origin or destination in that town. If a truck has a scheduled stop within that town, it is not a through truck.
Travel by trucks should be restricted only when the restriction will promote the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens without creating an undue hardship on any users of the transportation network.
Requests for No Thru Truck signs must come from the Local Traffic Authority of the town(s).
Trucks may be prohibited by weight class on city/town-maintained roads by a town ordinance. Local officials should be cautious when enacting such ordinances because trucks may be diverted to less suitable roads.
