NEWINGTON, Conn.- State Transportation Commissioner Ralph J. Carpenter announced today that a Bridge Maintenance project will be performed on Route 8 (northbound), between Exits 29 and 36, in Waterbury. Additionally, the exit 32 off ramp to I-84 (westbound) will be closed while the work is taking place. A posted detour will be in effect. This project is scheduled to begin on or about Saturday, July 21, 2007 and continue through Sunday, July 22, 2007. Rain dates: Saturday, July 28, 2007 through Sunday, July 29, 2007.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Saturday – Sunday evenings).
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
