NOTICE OF DETOUR
Project No. 101-109
The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that the detour currently in effect for work involving the Bridge No. 05457, Rte 216 over Spalding Pond, will be extended to approximately July 2008. The signed detour guides motorists around the bridge site via State Routes No. 216, 49 and 184.
During rehabilitation of the bridge, it was discovered that the substructure was in a deteriorated condition. It was determined that the condition warrants construction of a new bridge. The Department has accelerated a design for a new bridge and construction could begin as early as August 2007. Overall project completion is tentatively scheduled for August 2008.
